The most recurrent issue with this application is that certain channels will not play at all seemingly from being high fidelity uploads unless the video ages out to about two weeks old. This has been an issue for well over a year by now. On top of that, regardless of the Android TV device, this application always is flagged as being no longer supported, which seems absolutely baffling.
I cannot say I am fan of the new design language when bringing up the seek bar on Chromecast with Google TV. Before the latest update, it was a bit more aesthetic and did not obstruct the screen as much when you brought up the seek bar since it was semi-transparent. There are no features in this app for playing music that work with the way most people play music. Music and Youtube videos are entirely different things. I don't want a liked song to be replaced by a 10 year old music video that has awful audio. I also don't want a video I liked that featured audio to be part of my music collection. Do people who listen to music actually work on this app?
Google is really going downhill with these latest changes. And of course, being google, in a year or two they'll go a completely different direction because they can't get their act together. This is a hard review to write because I love Google products. Unfortunately YouTube TV is just absolutely unwatchable. There are so many commercials you can't even find something on TV to watch. Every time you change the channel every time you start clicking around you have to watch a commercial. I'm not against commercials but the way it's implemented in this app is just too much. The app itself is fine so far. But the ads experience is unbelievably bad. I switched to a "DVR"ed episode of a show I thought I'd check during halftime of a sports event. TV is for skipping around.
Channel surfing. The sports situation in the US is so bad, this is the best option, but NB to others considering subscribing.
